A Slim, Late 18th Century Stick Barometer

stick barometer by George Chamrers of Gateshead

A Slim, Late 18th Century Stick Barometer

A lovely mahogany stick barometer signed George Chamrers of Gateshead (almost certainly George Chambers, clockmaker, who was working in Gateshead in 1784 and died in 1813).

Fine quality veneers with chevron stringing, a glazed door covering the register plate, a mahogany cover to the tube, domed oval cistern cover and original hanging loop.

The charming, silvered brass, register plate is beautifully engraved and retains its original pointer.
