A Rare, Small Musical Bracket Clock by Eardley Norton

The finest quality English musical bracket clock of lovely size and proportion. Triple fusee movement playing a choice of 4 tunes on 8 bells with 15 hammers, and striking the hours on a bell. The back-plate of the movement is beautifully engraved in a Rococo style.
The dial is typical Norton, with a finely matted centre, square calendar box, Rococo spandrels, silvered chapter ring and two further silvered subsidiary dials to the arch for strike/silent and tune selection. The shaped arch to the dial is signed Robert Abney of London, who is not listed as a clockmaker, so was possibly some kind of retailer or the first owner.
The case has the best quality mahogany veneers, with finely cut and engraved sound frets, brass carrying handles on either side, and pineapple finials.
The tunes are:- Minuet, Coronation, Lovely Nancy and March.
