A really pretty little local 30hr longcase clock by Hardwell of Andover. . Plated movement with countwheel strike. Blued steel hands. The 11” painted dial
A real rarity! A very pretty 30hr longcase clock timepiece with alarm. The 3 wheel, plated frame, rope driven movement with side mounted alarm mechanism.
Thirty hour longcase clocks run for one day only. They are wound by pulling on the ‘continuous’ rope or chain through the trunk door. It is a common concern that winding the clock every day will be a chore, but the reality is that once it becomes a routine, it becomes part of the pleasure of owning the clock. 30 hour longcase clocks have the advantage of generally being smaller than 8 day clocks. They can also exhibit some of the most interesting and quirky work of the clockmaker.
